Gilbert Lake State Park
Gilbert Lake is a very cute State Park to stay in for $27 a night. The restrooms are very clean and well kept. Just 30 minutes away from Cooperstown, you can get a clean dumping station with clear water and all usual amenities. Water is shared among campsites but you can get electric from most campsites.
Hartwick Highlands Campground
This campground is in Cooperstown, where they claim to have invented baseball (spoiler: they didn’t). However, this camp is really great with a swimming pool, dog park and dog bath if you’re travelling with your furry friends. The price per night is $46.
Stoney Pond State Forest
This is a state forest campground in which you can camp for free. However, between May 1 and September 30, you’ll need a camping permit to stay in there. Nonetheless, it’s a perfect camping spot for no frills camping and a really calm, relaxing experience.
Moose River Plains Camping Corridor
You can stay for free at Moose River Plains without compromising on safety or comfort. There are fire pits by every campsite along with picnic tables. The place is quite safe with rangers close by at all times.
You can park your New York RV rental in Jones Pond for free, although it is only for seasonal camping. If you’re camping in the winter, you should avoid it as it will be closed. However, if you visit in the Summer, you’ll find tight cute little camping spots with a little pond in the middle that will make you love this place.
Walter Pratt Memorial Park
This is another park that is open seasonally, however, you’ll have plenty of joy to discover it in the Summer for free. It’s a quiet and serene memorial park which will make you love its surroundings. It has a nice pond for refreshing, dumping station and water.

Golden Beach Campground
Users say this campground is quite windy, but if you go there in the Summer you should have no issues. Campsites are quite large and the nightly rate is only $20. There are bathrooms and showers, and plenty of water to fill up your tank. You should have no issues camping here and it’s a nice place overall.
Eighth Lake Campground
This is a great campground to stay if you’re wishing to do some paddling. Perfect place for it, and only at a nightly rate of $22. In August, there are several activities close by including a visit to Huntington Pine Knot Great Camp.
Lake Eaton Campground
This campground is only open from May till October, so you should book your reservation beforehand. You can get a lakeside spot, which will make your trip a lovely one. There is a rental boat facility and you can swim close by if you want to. Perfect for Summer vacations.
